And our burgeoning love for Adventure Photography—going back to the spark that started it all

This Too Shall Pass: Purpose in the Madness

The thing is, I really do believe that we can stop time. And just like a camera, all it requires is a little focus.

There’s something magical about stopping time, or at least creating the semblance of having stopped it. And whilst I would like to believe in the power of a pressed camera shutter having been the means to this end, I know in my heart the feeling that I am witnessing is my own capacity to be present with what is without wanting to alter it.

Why Family Photography Matters

I suppose you could call it a beautiful surrender in which everything fits together seamlessly, both internally and externally, and where fighting the present becomes a thing of the past and preparing for the future becomes a mission for tomorrow.

For each of us, I believe we are destined to discover many of our own pathways into this realm, and to uncover our own inner ability to dive into the depths of potential below.

And when you think about it, Family Photography truly is such a powerful gateway into expressing, and utilizing, this innate creativity. It awakens something in us to objectively decide which moments are the ones worth preserving.

And of course, our minds do much of the heavy lifting with their constant sifting, sorting, and storing. So do our senses, with their primal ability to perceive this world in all its rawness and depth. But I also believe our hearts get some say in the matter, too. And how can they not, when we look into the eyes of our loved ones and cherish moments that will never come again? How can we not feel those moments in all their purity and potential, when they are so closely tied to what and who we love?

The Role of Nature in Creative Practice

It’s the inner magic that we find when we truly stop—the heart of life that’s always been there, beating away in the background and blending with the hum of everyday life.

I have come to believe that we can attune to this at any time, particularly in nature. But I also know, through direct experience, how rewarding it is to synthesize a day out in nature with creativity and companionship, and how important it is to physically interact with the world in order to feel connected to it.

Stopping teaches us how to move, not in haste, but in alignment with this very harmonic flow. It’s also our biggest teacher for reflection and redirection.

This awareness has struck me time and time again, and I am grateful for the creative consistency I find in photography that stimulates my inspiration when it feels far from me—or I from it. And whilst Family Photography is my closest companion in reenergizing joy in my day-to-day life, Adventure Photography is responsible for its origin.

From Intention to Adventure

The wave in Adventure Photography during the late 2010s, and later on the formation of what we now call Digital Content Creation, strongly influenced my decision to pursue photography with fervour, mostly because the combination of capturing people in beautiful places and authentic storytelling created a spectacular niche of lifestyle photography that resonated with large volumes of artists, and creatives, worldwide.

There was something very pure about this burgeoning creativity, and it made spending time in the outdoors feel very purposeful—or at least massively motivated me as a barely-20-something to get out of the house and enjoy life.

Adventure Photography not only opens doors, it removes those doors from their very hinges. It challenges us to grow, to explore, and to seek opportunity—whether that be on our own doorstep, or setting off on journeys far and wide.

Creating Meaningful Memories

It’s the essence we hold onto, regardless of how the digital landscape transforms, because, at the end of the day, it’s simplicity that provides the most longevity. And it’s simplicity that provides consistent value.

There’s a comforting familiarity to it all—of finding common ground with others, of repeatedly showing up to destinations with excitement, of appreciating each new opportunity to express vibrant enthusiasm.

We’ve been capturing moments for 11 years now. And still, today, Adventure Photography is at the heart of what we do. It’s why we continue to create, and the sole reason why much of the work we do revolves around our connection to the natural world, and the vast variety of opportunities for expression and enjoyment it provides. It gives our work meaning—meaning we hope to continue to extend to you.

And if this season of life feels chaotic, messy, or fleeting—remember, that’s exactly why it matters. Let’s decide to press pause, together.
